Good Morning.

After being lucky enough to find the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette in March's Cohorted Beauty Box I just can't get enough of it. I'm in love and paired with the original chocolate bar it's a beautiful sight and I simply can't stop looking at them *or smelling them*

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

I bought this from Cohorted when it was in one of the cohorts and I remember managing to pick this up quickly before it was all sold out at an amazing price. I can't remember now exactly how much but it was a considerable saving off the RRP.

Upon opening the palette the smell of sweetness hits. It's a chocolatey smell and it's wonderful thanks to the addition of pure, antioxidant rich cocoa powder in the shadows. It's a guilt free treat every time it's opened, just don't try to eat them... or taste them.

A beautiful range of shadows, mattes to shimmers, naturals, browns, golds, pink, purple and plum. Too Faced sure have everything covered within the 16 highly pigmented shadows.

The palette comes with a useful how-to-glamour guide which shows 3 different looks that can be created using the palette. Simple step by step instructions makes this little guide perfect for beginners and experienced makeup applicators alike.

Swatches.

L-R: Strawberry Bon Bon, Candied Violet, Amaretto, Hazelnut, Crème Brulee, Haute Chocolate, Cherry Cordial, Champagne Truffle

Of all of the shade the only one I had trouble showing up is white chocolate, There are a couple that are similar within the two palettes but I'll mention those in the comparison further down.
The second picture of shades are by far my favourites within both palettes as they are pigmentation rich and very complimenting shades.

Upon opening I'm hit with the famous chocolate scent that's in the original. Again the shadows are infused with the pure, antioxidant rich cocoa powder that gives this such an amazing smell.

This time the shades appear to be slightly warmer than the original chocolate bar and the way that Too Faced have described them is simply divine.

"Matte and shimmer shades of warm caramels, deep mochas, bronzy chocolate hues and a pop of sugared blueberry."

Perfect! Don't you just want to cherish this forever and instantly apply the sugared blueberry to your eyes? I do!

Included is the how-to-glamour guide with interestingly the same 3 looks included in the original chocolate bar palette but with different shades used to create them. The same simple instructions means anyone can give these looks a go.

Swatches.

L-R: Licorice, Coconut Crème, Nougat, Truffled, Hot Fudge, Cocoa Chile, Pink Sugar, Puddin'

L-R: Blueberry Swirl, Peanut Butter, Frosting, Rum Raisin, Mousse, Caramel, Bon Bon, Butter Pecan

And it's official that I'm the worst arm swatcher ever! It's an incredibly hard task!
As you can see I had a hard time with Coconut Crème showing up as I'm so pale, Nougat took a good few layers to show up when swatched and Pink Sugar lacks in pigmentation but has plenty of glitter although it looks as though it could be a messy shade to play with.
The second lot of swatches come across as quite warm shades with orangey hues and are quite similar to one another.

Comparison.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette and Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette Review and Swatches

Onto comparing the two and we'll start with packaging. Both designed to resemble a chocolate bar with Semi-Sweet being lighter, so easy to differentiate between the two.  The original chocolate bar palette is quite thick and bulky (unless you have a newer version, then they will be quite similar) whereas Semi-Sweet has had a slim down. Semi-Sweet feels the sturdier of the two and overall being more pleasing to the eye. They've definitely taken the packaging and recreated it for the better.

I also instantly noticed that the original chocolate bar palette comes with a plastic covering that covers the shadows and that has the shade names on. The Semi-Sweet palette does away with the plastic covering and instead has the shade names embossed above the shadows. Again I much prefer how they've included this little detail this time around.

If the shade names of both palettes don't have you reaching for the nearest sweet treat then you certainly have more will power than me. Each and every shade has a gloriously sweet themed name that can instantly have you daydreaming of a sweetie filled world a little like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory...revealing the inner child in me.

Shades of both palettes mostly differ whilst still keeping a neutral feel so there's plenty of everyday shades to choose from but we're still able to spice things up with the addition of a slight colourful touch within each palette. Both contain two highlighting shades, a matte and a shimmer, Semi-Sweet's being smaller in width and containing slightly less product at 2.2g rather than the original palette's at 2.8g. As already mentioned, Semi-Sweet being warmer highlight shades than the original palette.

There are some similar shades between the two palettes, I've swatched them together so you can see the differences/similarities for yourself. They aren't identical but close enough to notice.

L-R, Top: Semi-Sweet & Cocoa Chili, Black Forest Truffle & Pudding',  White Chocolate & Coconut Crème,  Milk Chocolate & Mousse.
L-R, Bottom: Salted Caramel & Peanut Butter, Amaretto & Rum Raisin, Hazelnut & Frosting.
I much prefer the overall design of the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar but to choose between the two for shades would be incredibly difficult, both very similar but with their differences. I think it comes down to whether you simply prefer a warmer look or slightly cooler as to which you should choose of the two.

I don't feel I can fault Too Faced with either of these products. I'm deeply in love with both of them and they will be getting a huge amount of use. I've noticed that Make-Up Revolution seem to have dupes of these palettes however I haven't seen these in person so can't compare but if these are out of budget as they are quite expensive then MUR may be a cheaper alternative.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette is available from Debenhams for £39.00

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette isn't available within the UK quite yet but if you do feel you need to have it now, Sephora are able to ship this to the UK for a total price of £55.06 including shipping and taxes.

Do you have an almighty love of chocolate that means you can't stay away from these palettes? Which do you prefer of the two?

Cohorted Beauty Box | March 2015

Cohorted March Beauty Box 2015

Hello Everybody!

Happy official first day of Spring. I'm sure feeling upbeat these past few days. What's better than feeling great and having your favourite day of the month in one week? That's right, yesterday was Cohorted delivery day and March's edition of the new Beauty Box was delivered.

I honestly had no idea of what to expect in this box, surely it couldn't quite top the first box could it? Also were Cohorted going to keep up the amazingness we'd seen in February or was that just a good introduction box?
I'm not sure I've ever been so excited for a delivery. I know there was a couple of posts up already about the contents but I do like this to be a surprise so I've had to be very careful when reading through blogs on Bloglovin' incase it popped up.

What a surprise it was. Can you believe that I opened up the box to have this lot sitting and staring back at me!

Cohorted March Beauty Box 2015

Yes, I was one of the super lucky ones to receive one of the 5 boxes that contained a Too Faced  Semi-sweet Chocolate bar palette!
My heart started racing and I just wanted to squeal I was so happy.

Aside from the palette, what a fantastic box. I said it last month and I'll say it again this month! Best Beauty Box ever! Seriously, Too Faced, Bare Minerals, Urban Decay and Sleek. 3 full sized amazing brand products for £19.99!!

What I think of the contents:

Fast becoming one of my ultimate favourites (that's right I have favourites, amazing favourites and ultimate favourites!) is Too Faced. Their mascara is the best I've ever used and I'll never be without it again... ever. I have the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette and I LOVE it, it smells of chocolate, people! I've slowly been collecting palettes that contain the ever popular chocolate soleil bronzer. I'm a Too Faced addict, honestly! So beside the Too Faced palette there was also a single eyeshadow. One of the Exotic Colour Intense Eyeshadows to be exact in the shade Copper Peony.
Cohorted really are on the ball aren't they. Instead of sending the least popular shades like many other boxes tend to do, they send something that's going to be popular with many as of late. We've all seen just how popular copper and rose gold are at the moment so this is perfectly fitting with current trends! It's just beautiful and I don't think they could have picked a better shade!

Next is the Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette. Now believe it or not I was over at Cohorted's site just the other day trying to get ahold of April's Beauty box, in which I failed miserably, and instead had a browse to try and cheer myself up. I came across this exact palette and realised in that moment just how much I really really wanted to try this. I umm'd and ahh'd for awhile before finally deciding to leave it as I'd have to pay delivery and that would fast bring the discounted price back up. Can you believe that the same palette that was in my basket, that I very nearly purchased, was inside the box? What? That just doesn't happen! But yes it was and I've even checked to make sure I'm not imagining it either! It's the same! So you can say I'm pretty darn chuffed with the second item in there.

Third item is an Urban Decay Perversion mascara sample. Now a mascara sample is nothing to get fantastically excited about however still a great sample to receive. I like to have these mini's for going away on holiday or weekends away or even to have in my bag and be kept there for use on the go. Last months box contained a Bobbi Brown mascara sample so the brands are impressive indeed although I'm wondering if there will be mascara in next months box too or if it will be a different sample?

Last but not least is Bare Minerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment in light. By far the most expensive item and retails at double the amount paid for the box. Firstly it's a perfect shade for me as I'm fair skinned so I'll actually be able to use it. Secondly it's going to be the first ever Bare Minerals product that I've tried. I'm one of these people who has redness on my face and freckles therefore Bare Minerals simply hasn't appealed to me before and comes across as far too sheer for my personal preference, this is just an assumption though but it's also been too expensive to try if it's not for me. Quite honestly I'm not sure what to expect from this but nethertheless I'm pleased that it was included as it may just be the introduction I needed into Bare Minerals and you never know I may just find a new favourite product.

Cohorted March Beauty Box 2015Finally just a quick word on the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette that was included. I'm unlucky when it comes to winning, I don't think I've ever won anything before so to be one of the 5 people who had this included in the box was ah-ma-zing. I was just so so happy when I opened the box and I still can't believe it now. As I mentioned I love Too Faced and the fact that this isn't available in the UK just yet is super exciting, it couldn't have been a better item. It's simply beautiful, smells amazing enough to eat and has a lovely collection of nice easy to use shades. I purchased my original Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette from Cohorted when they had it in a cohort so it will be interesting to properly compare them and review them together.

Did any of you manage to pre-order Aprils box? What did you make of the contents this month?

Lots of Love
